Reputations: How Should They Be Defined? Through Heavenly Citizenship

Reputations: How Should They Be Defined? Through Heavenly Citizenship

As I have gotten older, I’ve realized that our reputations are not defined by a single person, action, or event, no matter how hard one may try to make it seem so. Rather, they are defined by what God says, and by surrounding ourselves with like-minded, Christ-centered, uplifting people. You and I were not created to please everyone. Absolutely NO ONE will succeed in life with that mindset. To tell you the truth, burn out will quickly approach, and then how will we be effective at fulfilling the greatest commandment that God has mandated upon all of mankind?

Since the beginning of time, God has charged us with a mission to love Him, love others, and to make Him known in every corner of the world. This call of action, more commonly known as the Great Commission, is set forth in Matthew 28:18-20 (NKJV), where it declares, “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, all authority has been given to Me in Heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.” As we go about pursuing the things which God has placed upon our hearts, it is vital to remember that our greatest enemy, Satan, will constantly be attempting to throw every snare possible in our way. To conquer these attacks, God has equipped His children with His armor, including the helmet or salvation, sword of the Spirit, breastplate of righteousness, belt of truth, shoes of peace, etc. (Ephesians 6:10-17 NKJV) Therefore, in times of defeat, we must remember who we are, and who we belong to.

In life, there will be multiple situations we encounter where the enemy will try to make us feel like God has potentially forgotten about us. This could not be further from the truth, because as children of the Most High, we are blessed and highly favored! Due to this immediate blessing received through salvation, (Romans 10:9-10 NKJV) it can be seen and is known throughout Scripture that our Heavenly Father truly does desire to intimately know us and give us the desires of our heart. Though people may forget, or come and go, God always remains constant.

I don’t know what you may have faced, or are currently facing, but would you take heart in this one thing today? REMEMBER THAT WE ARE CHOSEN CITIZENS OF HEAVEN, PILGRIMS PASSING THROUGH THIS WORLD. Let this revelation wash over you, as you go throughout your day today. While everything in this world is temporary, the assurance of the fact that greater things are yet to come still rings true, because of the price our Savior paid for me, for you!
